Doctor Who: 10 Most Underrated Tenth Doctor Episodes

7. Planet Of The Dead

‘Planet of the Dead’ is another episode which is often labelled as a low point in Tennant’s run as the Doctor.

There was a notable level of criticism directed at the character of Christina at the time of the episode’s broadcast. Sure, she isn’t the most likeable companion, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t entertaining. In fact, her character is ideal for a one-off episode.

Malcolm (played by Lee Evans) is also a great one-off character. His innocent and well-meaning persona makes him instantly likeable, and his conversations with the Doctor are amusing throughout.

The runtime of sixty minutes is unfortunately a little too long. This episode would have benefited from being a typical forty-five-minutes, as this would have forced some of the more redundant scenes to be cut.

Still, other than a slightly baggy script, there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had with this episode. Regardless of the creepy title, ‘Planet of the Dead’ is a great adventure with plenty of humour.
