Doctor Who: 10 Most Underrated Tenth Doctor Episodes

3. Voyage Of The Damned

With the possible exception of ‘The Christmas Invasion’, ‘Voyage of the Damned’ is the best Doctor Who Christmas special of the Tennant era.

Set upon a spacecraft which is a replica of the Titanic, this episode focuses on the Doctor’s attempts to prevent the ship colliding with earth whilst simultaneously trying to avoid being killed by a group of angelic androids programmed to wipe out all passengers.

Despite being seventy minutes in length, ‘Voyage of the Damned’ has a wicked pace. Indeed, the slow, lighthearted atmosphere of the first ten minutes soon evaporates after several meteors collide with the ship.

The supporting cast all work well alongside Tennant, and though some critics were not particularly favourable towards Kylie Minogue, such criticism feels unwarranted given how well she executed some of the more emotive scenes with the Doctor.

Regardless of the high number of fatalities, ‘Voyage of the Damned’ is an exhilarating adventure which feels much shorter than its seventy-minute runtime, and as such, it deserves much more recognition.
