Doctor Who: 10 Most-Viewed Scenes On YouTube Ranked Worst To Best
3. The Twelfth Doctor Regenerates (Twice Upon A Time)
The Twelfth Doctor's exit is the most popular regeneration scene on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel, 800,000 views ahead of the runner-up - the Tenth Doctor's.
This is likely due to the fact that Twelve's regeneration also introduced the first female Doctor, giving it that extra bit of buzz. But even if you put that to one side, a stellar Peter Capaldi speech and some Murray Gold musical magic are a wonderful combination that make this one of the greatest regeneration scenes of all time.
Set to Gold's track The Shepherd's Boy - which is most synonymous with Capaldi's best episode, Heaven Sent, but makes a welcome return for his final scene - this regeneration basically consists of Twelve reminding his future incarnations what the Doctor must be. He tells them to love, to be kind, to never be cruel, to never be cowardly. He reminds them that hate is foolish, that their name must remain a secret, and that pears are bad. Agreed on that last one, mate.
It was a lovely way for Capaldi to say goodbye, and it was also a fitting end to showrunner Steven Moffat's tenure too, because the speech touched on pretty much everything that his two Doctors were about. Cap the whole thing off with an insanely cool slo-mo TARDIS explosion shot, and this one's an absolute winner.
