Doctor Who: 10 New Pictures From The Christmas Special
6. Meet The Elves
A Christmas adventure featuring Father Christmas just wouldn't be complete with the inclusion of his accompanying elves and Steven Moffat has never been a writer to miss a trick (well... let's save that argument for another day). As such, guest starring in Last Christmas as Santa Claus' devoted handymen are Nathan McMullen and Dan Starkey, seen together in this new picture looking particularly festive and elf-like in costumes that would make even Will Ferrell go back to the drawing board. Having been sworn to secrecy about his role as Wolf in the episode, Nathan McMullen has revealed that a guest stint in Doctor Who is a dream come true for any actor, especially when the role in question is in one of the show's beloved Christmas specials. "Even at the read through there was a jolly vibe," he revealed in a recent interview. His costume probably helped him to get into the spirit of the season, too. Meanwhile, Wolf's partner in crime, Ian, will be played by none other than Dan Starkey, a name fans will probably already know, but whose face they perhaps wouldn't recognise, for his ongoing portrayal of Sontaran Commander Strax. It will nice to see Dan taking on a role which doesn't require him to be dressed as a humanoid potato for a change, although looking at his elf attire above, the former would probably be the less embarrassing option for any of your future cosplaying events. It looks like fans will be glad these two are around as they'll no doubt be providing the comic relief in what looks set to be an otherwise dark and dismal affair for the Doctor and Clara. After all, it wouldn't be a Doctor Who Christmas Special without an overriding sense of carnage and jeopardy, right?
