Another one of those point of view moments. The Doctor has a TARDIS, can travel all of time and space, can regenerate and finds friends almost everywhere he goes. The problem is, much like Jack Harkness, The Doctor has seen his fair share of loss. Granted, whilst most of his loss is self-inflicted, it doesnt change the fact that The Doctor mourns more than the average hero. This fear of loss is what pushes The Doctor to save the Universe time and time again. Unlike Jack Harkness, however, The Doctor tends to live his life with his friends in such small bites. Take Elevens relationship with both The Ponds and Clara. For those Earth Bound souls, meetings with The Doctor have mere months or years in between, but for The Doctor it is often decades, even centuries until they meet again. Despite the fact that hes often told to never be alone, he is always alone. The weight of the Universe is on his shoulders. Often being drawn to huge turning points in time and space, and generally being the only person who can help. This is a heavy burden for a Mad Man in a box who is still just running away. And of course, hes still the man who believed for almost half a millennium that he had destroyed his own planet and killed his own people when in truth, he never did. The Doctor is unlucky because so many rely on him, The Doctor is unlucky because he loses everyone he meets eventually, hes unlucky because he still cant return home and hes unlucky because he witnessed the death of the woman he loves at the moment that he first met her. There may be many positives to being The Doctor, but in the end hes always left alone and that may well be the unluckiest thing of all. Is there anyone else more unlucky then those mentioned above? Anyone that has been missed in this article. Feel free to drop your opinions in the comments below!
