10. The Doctor's Debut
Arguably the most important moment in the revived series, but not the most shocking. There was, however, a tingle of expectation for both new and existing fans of the show. It was obviously known that Christopher Eccleston would be at the TARDIS helm so this is one of those moments that viewers had been waiting for. As the first episode of NuWho began, fans were introduced to Rose who was very quickly surrounded living mannequins - later revealed to be the Nestene Consciousness. It was only then, at Roses hour of need, that fans heard that soon-to-be familiar word. Run! And so it began - ten years of running! The adventures had started. Time travelling, space hopping adventures that many have only known since that moment back in 2005. It is, of course, understandable that followers of the original show have a feeling of frustration towards fans whose knowledge is limited to the shows revival but that doesnt change the fact that for so many people, this was their first meeting with the mad man in a box. In truth, tt was a moment that both new and existing fans had been waiting for. The return for some, the debut for others but for all it was a brand new experience. The Leather coat wearing, oh-so-fantastic, very northern Doctor was revealed. Christopher Eccleston exploded onto our screens and immediately made the revived version of the Doctor cool and that was breathtaking in itself.
