Another entry for Rory the Roman! There's something about a man in a leather skirt that Doctor Who fans just can't get enough of. The Last Centurion almost became an alter-ego for Rory. So synonymous was his badassery with the garb of the ancient Roman army that fans knew that they were in for a treat whenever they saw him decked out like an extra from 'Gladiator'. And Rory is certainly on the war path in the mid-Series 6 finale, A Good Man Goes To War, in which he takes on a Cyber Legion with literally zero effs to give. What's so impressive about Rory's character development over the course of his time on the show is that it feels like a natural progression. He becomes more confident, responsible and mature due to his experiences with the Doctor and, though he does experience great loss and pain at times, he comes out all the better for it. His utter selflessness and adoration for his wife make him truly admirable and have led to Rory being one of the most widely appreciated and oft appreciated companions in all of Doctor Who's long history.
