Doctor Who: 10 Protagonists They Should Bring Back

9. River Song

River Song By bring back, I really mean continue to make further appearances in the show. I'm going to get this one out of the way. I love River Song. If you've read any of my previous posts talking about Matt Smith's departure and Peter Capaldi's reveal, you'll know that I think there's still room for a recurring presence for this dynamic 'wife' of the Doctor. Sure the core element of her story is done, but 'Silence In The Library' / 'Forest Of The Dead' suggested that River had met multiple versions of the Doctor, not just two. By that fact alone, I think she should become a character that pops up once, maybe twice a year, interacting with the Twelfth Doctor and maybe even Thirteen in years to come, Alex Kingston's availability permitting. In fact, Capaldi and Kingston would be a whole different dynamic to Smith and Kingston. For starters, he'll likely know more about her than she will about him. Plus we don't have the physical 'Mrs Robinson' interplay that the current young looking old Doctor had with River. Two characters (and actors) that are physically older will be a new dynamic for this recurring character.
