Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Christopher Eccleston Is The Best Doctor

2. He Has Dynamite Scenes With Emotionless Creatures

The Daleks may be the Doctor's greatest enemy, but let's call a spade a spade. They aren't great villains to actually share scenes and dialogue with. They are meant to seem like a giant, never ending threat and each single Dalek is a soldier capable of massive damage. Also, they have all of their emotions removed which helps their appearance as the bad guys, but somewhat restricts the performance you can get from them. Dalek, Eccleston's first episode with the iconic villains, delivers not one but two of the most emotional scenes in the entire series, both featuring the classic monster. The first scene they share is crammed with tension as the Doctor dashes from fear to hysteria to anger and rounds it all off with being darkly humorous. In the second (when he is talking to the Dalek via a the monitor) we see the Doctor's frustration boil over as he calls for the creature's death, which it cooly reorts with 'You would make a good Dalek' and is perhaps the greatest insult you could give to the Doctor.
