All of the Doctor's companions would - and probably have - put their lives on the line for their beloved Doctor but not many of them can say that they were literally born to save him. The mystery of the impossible girl was finally solved in the Series 7 finale, The Name of the Doctor, when Clara Oswald triumphantly jumped into our hero's time stream and imprinted herself on his past incarnations. Basically, she's his guardian angel. And it doesn't get more ultimate than that. Clara Oswald, for the win!
