Clara Oswald has certainly got tongues wagging - and in more ways than one - since she made her premature debut at the start of Series 7. First introduced as an energetic, soufflé making... erm, Dalek, she didn't even get to step aboard the TARDIS before she was sensationally killed off in the very same episode and the shock twist laid the foundations for what soon became one of the biggest mysteries in Doctor Who history. Now, almost three years later, she's about to embark on her third series as the Time Lord's coveted companion and there really is an overriding sense that it'll be third time lucky for everybody's favourite impossible girl in Series 9. It hasn't been an easy ride to get to this point, though. Life as the Doctor's sidekick is hard enough at the best of times but Clara really has been through the mill and back again, particularly in Series 8 which saw her tragically ripped apart from the love of her life who got hit by a car before being postmortemly upgraded into a Cyberman. It was a long story. Her various storylines have dominated proceedings in recent episodes which has made Clara somewhat of a Marmite figure with the Whoniverse.
