3. She's Never Afraid To Put The Doctor In His Place

Because, let's face it, sometimes he needs it. The Doctor would be nothing without a faithful companion by his side and it's always an added bonus if said companion isn't afraid to tell him when he's crossed the line. Which the Twelfth Doctor did. Multiple times. Still, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and all that jazz, and their relationship was all the better for it. From a narrative perspective, it also served to further establish Clara as a strong-minded and independent character in her own right. Her dramatic outburst at the end of Kill the Moon was just one of many occasions throughout Series 8 in which she flew the flag for 21st century companions. You wouldn't like this impossible girl when she's angry...
