Doctor Who: 10 Reasons David Tennant Deserved His Special Recognition Award

2. His Future Is Bright

Tennant has had a few attempts at cracking America and whilst he hasn€™t secured a solid foothold yet, each project he undertakes gets bigger in stature. The DIY legal comedy Rex Is Not Your Lawyer didn€™t get beyond pilot stage but he transferred his hangdog police snooper persona to Gracepoint, the US reboot of Broadchurch. That sadly wasn€™t recommissioned but it saw the actor rub shoulders with such notable names as Breaking Bad€™s Anna Gunn and Nick Nolte. His next project may well have legs, however, as he's about to take on the role of villain Kilgrave in Netflix€™s Marvel adaptation AKA Jessica Jones. His ardent following and ambition will lead to some exciting and diverse projects whether he migrates or not, be it on film, TV, the stage or radio. He may be yesterday€™s man in the worlds of Doctor Who but the country still can€™t get enough of this dashing and above all humble homegrown export.
