Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Last Christmas Is Probably The Best Special Yet
6. Capaldi's Christmas Debut
This wasn't the first time Peter Capaldi has appeared on our screens on Christmas Day, of course, after his initial introduction as the Twelfth Doctor at the end of last year's The Time of the Doctor. He also appeared in a seasonal helping of The Vicar of Dibley which aired on Christmas Day back in 1996, for those of you are keeping track of his filmography, but this episode marked his official full length debut into the whimsical world of the Doctor Who Christmas Specials. And didn't he do us proud!? If there are still any naysayers out there then surely Peter's performance in Last Christmas was enough to convince them that he has well and truly arrived as the titular Time Lord. In true form as the show's leading man he owns every scene he's in - a good thing as that's pretty much all of them - and he does it with so much gusto that you can't help but enjoy the ride, even when he's insulting everyone and everything around him which he does his usual fair share of in this episode. As far as defining his Doctor goes, Last Christmas has a sleigh load of scenes that helped him do it. In fact, his reaction to flying said sleigh will probably of down in history as one of the Twelfth Doctor's most memorable moments as it showed that, even in his grand old age, our hero is still just a big kid at heart. Bring on 2015!
