Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Last Christmas Is Probably The Best Special Yet

7. Clara's Comeback

You know she wouldn't be able to stay away for too long! She bid what she thought was going to be her final adieu to the Twelfth Doctor at the end of the last series - during which fans learnt to never trust a hug - but here she was once again ready to kick butt in her third festive escapade. Interestingly Clara wasn't expecting to ever see the Doctor again which made their unplanned reunion even more exciting. The fact they parted ways on the back of two humongous lies (Clara's being that Danny Pink was still alive and the Doctor's being that he'd found Gallifre) was explored in a way that was satisfying without taking anything away from the overriding story. They soon realised that they're at their best when they're together and after a somewhat rocky start it felt like Clara had never been away. Probably because she hadn't, but that's besides the point. What's more, it looks like Clara Oswald is now here to stay, for the time being at least, so Last Christmas can be credited for relighting her and the Doctor's lost flame, and thank God it did. It looked like it really was the end for them for a terrifying minute there.
