Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Matt Smith's Departure Is A Major Mistake

6. The Comedic Traits Of The Eleventh Doctor

doctor who who The Eleventh Doctor is a comic genius. There are moments where I watch him on screen and just smile. Doctor Who has never been funnier (certainly Nu Who) and amid the darkness of the arcs about the cracks, the Silence, The Doctor€™s death and Trenzalore, his penchant for comedy arises just when we need it. It started about ten minutes into The Eleventh Hour (the finest introduction for any Doctor since Hartnell in my opinion). You€™re Scottish, fry something! And fish fingers and custard! At that moment I was sold and I hadn€™t even got to the darker elements of the series (which were duly introduced the moment the Doctor asked Amy where her parents were and investigated the crack in her bedroom wall). Throughout three series, there have been some fantastic moments of comedy. Jammy dodger versus the Daleks, his surprise entrance at Rory€™s stag party, playing football with Craig, the appearance of the Fez / Stetson (they€™re cool now, along with bow ties!), riding a floating shark, riding a triceratops, Stormageddon, moving in with the Ponds€there are so many moments that bring a smile to my face. Whatever happens next, whatever genius traits Moffat comes up with for the Twelfth Doctor, I would be surprised if anyone had the comic timing that Matt Smith brings to the role.
