Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Peter Capaldi Could Be The Best Doctor Ever

9. He's Got Staying Power

Peter Stay The Doctors of the new series have left the show and gone on to bigger and better things. David Tennant stars in the amazing drama Broadchurch while Christopher Eccleston is starring as Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. Matt Smith is also moving on and is ready to make his mark on Hollywood. Peter Capaldi's done all that. He's done his time in other media. Doctor Who isn't a stepping stone for him; it's the peak of the mountain. The other actors want to continue their careers and not be typecast as The Doctor, but Capaldi isn't afraid of that. In fact, I dare say he'd be looking forward to it. Playing The Doctor is almost like coming home to him. He grew up with the series, watching every episode and becoming a hardcore fan. He even wrote a fan letter to the Radio Times when he was 15. Capaldi, who admits to playing The Doctor on the playground at school, believes that this is what his entire body of work has led to. This is the role of a lifetime for him, and it's one he's likely not to leave anytime soon.
