Doctor Who: 10 Reasons The Eleventh Doctor Actually Sucks
8. He Can't Keep Still
Anyone watching Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor in Series 8 may have noticed an incredible thing: an actor can play Doctor Who while standing still and be totally compelling. After several years of Matt Smith, constantly jumping from foot to foot and waving his arms around, this has come as a blessed relief and migraines among fans have dropped since their eyes haven't had to be constantly on the move to keep up with him. Doctor 10 was mobile Doctor but Doctor 11 was like a teenager with ADD who had just had five Cokes, a bag of Haribos and an expresso. It's a wonder Amy and Clara didn't lose an eye with all the waving of the sonic screwdriver that the Eleventh Doctor did. Yes, this can be comedic - only the most grumpy would deny that his wedding dancing was funny, but it also got quickly annoying. Yes, the Doctor can have a young body but he shouldn't act like a hyperactive child, too. This motion also had an impact on the companions. As the Eleventh Doctor was always the centre of attention, his companions needed to be louder and brasher, Amy Pond being the best example. Whereas there seemed to be a real bond between Ten and Rose, Eleven and Amy felt like two toddlers in a ball pit. Just look at how good Jenna Coleman is now that she has a proper grown up Doctor to work with.
