Doctor Who: 10 Reasons To Miss The Eleventh Doctor

1. He's An Actor Who's Been Converted Into A Whovian

matt-smiths-thank-you There's a line in Fever Pitch where Colin Firth's character Paul is talking about his beloved Arsenal. He says that everyone should want something they've always wanted, and perhaps that's one of the best things about hiring Capaldi: Peter's wanted to be the Doctor since he was a kid and now he gets his chance. It's a story just as magical as anything onscreen. Matt Smith alternately, was a child of the wilderness years. He never had the chance to say "You were my Doctor", because he was never brought up with the show. But Matt's grown into a Whovian in this role. In interviews, he's seemed more and more clued up on Who as he's progressed, and for the fans, it's lovely to watch someone we adore fall in love with our show like we did once upon a time. For many watching, especially in America, he's their first Doctor; and together as fans and actor, so many have discovered the brilliance of Doctor Who with Matt Smith. He's not just been an actor to play the part, he's an actor that will always be associated with the part: Doctor Who never leaves you, despite how some like to shake it off. And Matt might not have understood quite what he was getting himself into when he said yes to the BBC, but the fact that he has the utmost respect for the show three years on says a lot about him, his respect for the fans, and the show as a whole. He might not have always wanted to be the Doctor, but Matt Smith will be the Doctor forever now: and he loves us as much as we love him. What are the things you'll miss about Matt?
