Doctor Who: 10 Reasons To Miss The Eleventh Doctor

2. The Speeches

doctor-who-pandorica-opens-2 No, Matt Smith hasn't written any of the monologues. He's been there to bring them to life. Just head to YouTube (after reading this of course... there's only one more point, honest) and type in "The Eleventh Doctor is a badass". You'll be greeted with some of his finest spiels in the faces of the Silence, the Atraxi, and even hundreds of thousands of aliens lining the skies of Stone Henge. That's without mentioning the crowing glory of 'The Rings of Akhaten', a moving and vivid speech in which Neil Cross pretty much summed up the history of the character in a couple of minutes and some beautiful imagery. It's the tear rolling Smith's face, as he recounts what he's lost; that's an image that will go down in Who forever. When Matt reels off that kind of writing, you see the eyes of Hartnell, Troughton et al behind the childlike face. Maybe Moffat will give us one or two more before he regenerates at Christmas? I hope so.
