Doctor Who: 10 Reasons To Miss The Eleventh Doctor

3. The Physical Comedy

doctor who regeneration Doctor Who has been blessed with some brilliantly funny writers in the past, from Moffat to Davies through to Richard Curtis and Gareth Roberts. And of course, it's the actor's job to convey that humour. But what Eleven's brought to the role is a physical side to the funniness. Moffat's said that every day, Smith surprises him with a nuance that he pulls out of the bag, and often, he doesn't have to say anything; whether it's the dancing in The Bells of Saint John, his chaotic disorganisation in The Big Bang, or even just the way he points at a newborn Melody Pond, smiling at Amy and Rory as if to say, "You made that!" And of course, he can turn the tone of his physicality upside down, when glaring in The Girl Who Waited or Asylum of the Daleks. Peter Capaldi has a very different presence, but it'll be interesting to see if he sticks with a similar style of comedy.
