Doctor Who: 10 Revived Series Episodes You'll Only Watch Once

1. Love & Monsters

"Here we are, complete strangers, and I'm flashing you my knickers!" That's great, Jackie, but where did Doctor Who go? You probably knew this would be at the top of the list and it's not that the episode in question is bad per se, it's just... well, it's missing something. Obviously that's largely down to the fact that David Tennant and Billie Piper hardly feature in it at all because they were off filming another episode at the same time (in fairness, it was the The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit two-parter which means that they're totally forgiven). As such, the majority of the action focuses on a ragtag group of Doctor devotees instead and then there's this random subplot in which Rose's mum is feeling lonely - amidst other things *ahem* - and the whole thing is basically just plain weird. The star of the show is Marc Warren as Elton Pope. Don't get us wrong, he's likeable enough but if you're prepared to have sexual liaisons with a pavement slab, it's probably a different kind of doctor you should be pursuing. He'd been obsessed with a certain blue box and its enigmatic occupant since a brief encounter as a child and devoted his life to finding out the truth. He co-founded a group called L.I.N.D.A as part of his ongoing mission to track the Time Lord down once and for all and on paper it sounds like it should've been an interesting concept. Then Peter Kay went and spoilt it all by doing something stupid like playing a green, absorbing alien with a mohawk. Seriously. Yes, the Abzorbaloff was designed by a child and yes, it's a Doctor-lite story (thankfully the ones that followed have been much more enjoyable) but you still can't help but feel cheated as the end credits roll. It doesn't help matters that L.I.N.D.A seemingly forget what they're even supposed to be doing halfway through the episode and start singing us ELO songs instead. The Doctor's dabbled with aliens and this was him meeting the genuine article, apparently. Well, if that's true, the human race really has nothing to worry about at all. What did you think of this list? Are there any other Doctor Who revived series episodes that you've only been able to watch once? Let us know in the comments section.
