Doctor Who: 10 Secrets Of The TARDIS You Need To Know

7. It Is Sorely In Need Of An Upgrade

Doctor Who TARDIS
BBC

If you think of a time machine, there are a fair few phrases you might use to describe it. "Futuristic" or "space-age" are just a couple of examples, but I would definitely not say that they were "outdated".

Of course that would put me in the minority as it turns out The Doctor stole a "Type 40" TARDIS, a model that is considered the iPhone 4 of the TARDIS world, even by Time Lord standards. Although it was once described as a "sports car" in comparison to the much more finicky Vortex Manipulator, it is actually somewhat more akin to an old family hatchback; reliable, consistent but could just as easily be replaced with a newer edition.

Despite all of this and the incessant badgering by fellow Time Lords, The Doctor has stayed as loyal and true to his old machine as the average parent does to the computer that still runs Windows XP. Am I right? No? Just me?

Just your average, everyday favourite transgender writer. You can find me talking about books and graphic novels for hours on end. I was raised on Doctor Who, so eccentric isn't even the word to describe me...
