Doctor Who: 10 Theories For John Hurt's Doctor

2. He Is "Dr. Who"

peter cushing doctor whoDoctor Hurt could be the older version of "Dr. Who" played in the 1960's movies by Peter Cushing, finally bringing those films into Doctor Who canon! For those unfamiliar with this, in 1965 and 1966 there were two "Dalek" movies made that included a character called Dr. Who that invented a time machine called the TARDIS. Some of the other characters from the first season of Doctor Who also appear, but these films were never made to be part of the TV serial. It is my understanding that the films existed just to cash in on the Dalek craze of the time. It was the only place you could see the Daleks in COLOR! Likelihood? Ummm, are you insane? It's funny to muse upon and wonder if they would EVER try and reconcile those movies with the canon of the series, but I don't think it is ever going to happen. I guess the 50th Anniversary special would be the place to do it, but I think it would be neat to see just a regular episode where they feature the events of these movies in some way. Maybe the Doctor could encounter this Dr. Who that is confused or possibly inspired by the real Doctor. The real Doctor would help Dr. Who defeat the Daleks back in the 1960's.
