10. He Is A Future Regeneration Of The Doctor
I guess this is the easiest conclusion to come to. John Hurt is playing Doctor 12 or maybe even Doctor 13. In the lore of show it is said that the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times, making 13 total bodies he can inhabit. We are currently up to 11 main actors in the history of the show, making Doctor Hurt a 12th. This means the series will soon be coming to an end, right? Only one more actor can play him! Well, I believe that the 50th anniversary show is going to reboot that number or somehow make it obsolete. It has to happen for the show to continue, and the 50th anniversary episode seems a likely place to deal with problems such as this. It would certainly "change" the show by getting rid of that aspect. Likelihood? Not very lucky. Doctor Who is famous for not doing the obvious thing and honestly trying to trip us up by doing exactly the opposite of the obvious thing. Also, Doctor 11 recognizes Doctor Hurt. In the past, the Doctor hasn't known what his future regenerations will look like. I guess the possibility still remains that John Hurt could take over as the Doctor for season 8, but I think that is highly unlikely.
