Doctor Who: 10 Things To Do While You're Waiting For The New Series

9. ...Or Go Back To The Very Start!

So, the Doctor is off on his well deserved break (not the cast and crew in Cardiff though, for whom it's business as usual as filming for Series 9 continues...) which means that all his dedicated devotees can do is sit back and twiddle their thumbs until the TARDIS reopens its doors once more later this year. It's going to be a long wait. Doctor Who fans know all too well that the waiting is always the hardest part but thankfully there's an almighty back catalogue of the titular Time Lord's previous timey-wimey escapades to enjoy in the meantime. You've visited the show's recent past by reliving Series 8 so why not now take it one step further and embark on that Classic Series marathon you're always talking about but have secretly been too intimidated to attempt? You've certainly got a lot of time to kill until Series 9 gets here and what better way to while away the Doctor-less months than by delving into how it all began? There's a whole lot of time and space out there just waiting to be explored so it's time to set your sights on November 1963 which marked the premiere of the first ever adventure, An Unearthly Child. From that moment onwards you'll embark on one of the most thrilling televisual rides of your life. There will be highs, there will be lows and there will be lots of times (far too many to count, in fact) when you won't know what the hell is going on, but by the time the Twelfth Doctor returns in the autumn, the moment will definitely have been prepared for. Most of the Doctor Who Classic Serials can be purchased on DVD but you'll need to dedicate a whole shelf (and then some) on your DVD rack if you want to do it properly. There's also plentiful available to stream on Netflix and there's always other places to find them if you know where to look. Good luck!
