Doctor Who: 10 Things To Expect From Chibnall's First Series

1. A New Doctor

The tenure of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor is still up for fierce discussion and the actor has remained tight-lipped on whether he will bow out with Steven Moffat. But one thing is all but certain; given the fact paced schedule and his desire to do other things, Capaldi is unlikely to stay past 2018. Chibnall would be foolish to dump Capaldi given the critical acclaim he is getting as the Doctor but he is also likely to start planning his successor as soon as he takes over Doctor Who. Either he starts 2018 with the thirteenth Doctor or we have something similar to the 2005 series, ending with the Twelfth's regeneration. Series 11 is sure to make some big changes in front of and behind the cameras. As to what what the new Doctor will be? Likely someone a little more amiable after Capaldi's version and while there is a fan girl pressure to go back to the youthful Doctors, expect someone in between. What are your hopes for Chibnall's era? Given his past work are you excited for his take on the show or dreading it? Let us know in the comments below...
