5. Companion Changes
Rose Tyler, two series, Martha Jones, one series, Donna Noble, one series, Amy and Rory Pond two and a half series, Clara Oswald Well were not so sure yet but there we go. The faces of the companions change more often than those of The Doctor and whilst from a logical stand point that makes sense, it doesnt mean that its any easier to accept. Since the beginning of the revived series, fans have been lucky. Apart from the deaths by natural causes it is assumed of Rory and Amy during the events of The Angels Take Manhatten, fans havent had to deal with the death of a companion. Of course we saw Rory die, twice, but he was never gone for that long, and there was always a feeling that he would come back but the fact remains, weve been generally sure that every companion so far has gone on to live a life after the TARDIS. Again, this doesnt make it any easier to accept when they do leave. With rumours rampant that Clara Oswald may well be set to leave our screens in the coming months, its time for fans to start guessing who could be next and whether theyll be as cute and flirty as the Blackpool native has been. She was there for fans through the change from Matt Smith to the older and darker Capaldi, and it felt like our journey of acceptance ran hand in hand with hers. Once she accepted the Twelfth Doctor, then we began to as well. Its hard when a companion leaves, especially when their end means we wont see them again. Lets be honest, though, this is Doctor Who were anything goes. You can never say never.
