Even more interesting that the potential exit is the potential returnee. Before Danny Pink was sensationally killed off in Death In Heaven various media outlets had Samuel Anderson billed to appear in the Christmas Special. Since then, of course, all mention of his name has since been removed. Intriguing. Is the Moff setting up another chance for Clara and Danny to be reunited? And what would such a reunion entail? Either Clara would depart for good and live happily ever after with Danny, or else Danny could join the TARDIS crew full time. Or neither. It is entirely possible for Danny to return to the land of the living due to the science-fiction nature of Doctor Who, though that then begs the question of why the Doctor never saved anyone else that had died. Whatever the outcome, Clara needs a happily ever after. Her settling down with a new, unknown character would just not be a fitting end for many viewers.
