9. Amy And Rory Doomed
In the episode The Angels Take Manhattan, Amy and Rory are permanently separated from the Doctor when the Weeping Angels zap them back in time to New York in 1929. The Doctor is unable to even attempt to rescue them as the area is time locked (or something) which would somehow mean that he'd risk destroying the entire universe if he tried to save them. Probably not worth it, then! Needless to say, there have been many debates and musings amongst the more vocally active members of the show's fandom as to why the Doctor couldn't just go to... say, Boston, 1929 and walk there, or perhaps a few years in the future and rescue them then. Perhaps there's a different way of looking at the situation, though. Instead of looking at the time lock as "He can't travel to New York, 1929", perhaps the time lock goes around anyone who was misplaced in time - period. So, no matter where they were, or when, they were time locked. This would prevent him from taking them out of their period of time and would also prevent him from even going near them. Besides, the Doctor is already a complicated anomoly of time, to put things simply. He exists where and when he wants to (most of the time), which is something that could wreck havoc on something that is fixed (See The Wedding of River Song for proof). Speaking of Amy and Rory departing...
