Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Realised About Series 6 Of NuWho

3. Sir Kazran Sardick

The Eleventh Doctor starred in his first Christmas Special during Series 6 as he encountered the lonely old miser Kazran Sardick in the heartwarming Dickensian inspired escapade A Christmas Carol. Joining the coveted yuletide line up was Sir Michael Gambon - otherwise known and loved as Professor Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films - who was at this point only the second knighted actor to land a guest role in the series, after Derek Jacobi who starred as Professor Yana back in Series 3. The exclusive list has grown since, of course, to include Sir Michael Gambon (The Snowmen) and Sir John Hurt (The Day of the Doctor), although technically John was knighted after he appeared in Doctor Who. A knighthood is still a knighthood, though, and nobody is more worthy than than the War Doctor himself.
