4. Return Of The Tardisodes

When David Tennant began his role as the Tenth Doctor, the BBC started up a new way of getting Doctor Who snippets out to the masses called "Tardisodes". These short (3-7 minutes typically) little episodes would often connect two episodes together, showing what happened after an episode aired, but before the next one. The first Tardisode produced in NuWho was a Children in Need special, showing what happened immediately after the Doctor regenerated into David Tennant, and introduced newer fans to what has been termed "regeneration sickness". It showed the Doctor's descent into a manic induced psychosis, as he sped the TARDIS faster and faster towards Rose Tyler's home in London (instead of going to Barcelona... the planet, not the city, like he had originally planned). Sadly, these 'mini-episodes' stopped for a time after Series 2, but started back up during Series 6, being called 'mini-episodes' as well as 'Tardisodes'. They were produced in the way of short prequels to draw up anticipation for the upcoming series (as if that was required!) and during Series 7, they even introduced new viewers to the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann, as he finally received his much awaited and deserved regeneration scene into Sir John Hurt as the War Doctor. Once again, to many fans dismay, the 'Tardisodes' have once again disappeared. Not one appeared during the run of Series 8 but here's hoping that the Moff brings them back for the next series. It's always nice to dig a little deeper.
