Doctor Who: 10 Times A Companion Stole The Show

3. Meta-Crisis Donna

Donna Noble, the "temp from Chiswick" and one of the few companions not to find herself romantically drawn to the pinstripe suit, first joined Doctor Who for a one-off appearance in the 2006 Christmas Special, The Runaway Bride. She then returned to the series eighteen months later as a regular TARDIS resident, travelling to Pompeii (oh look, it's Peter Capaldi!), meeting Ood and being present at the birth of the Doctor's (sort of) daughter. She finally joined Rose, Sarah Jane Smith, Captain Jack, Martha Jones, Miceky Smith, Jackie Tyler and, of course, the Doctor in an attempt to foil Davros' plan to create a reality bomb that would destroy all of time and space. After being shot by a Dalek, the Doctor cheated death by pouring his regeneration energy into his spare hand which Donna would later touch to become the meta-crisis Doctor. With her new found Time Lord knowledge she would save the day and her time of glory would be remembered by all, though unfortunately she herself was forced to forget her act of heroism - as well as of her memories with the Doctor - when he wiped her memory to save her life. It became another story, another moment, that Donna Noble had slept through. She saved the entire universe and she would never even know.
