Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor

We all want to be a bit like the Doctor... and here's how you can do it!

The Doctor is a pretty awesome character - brave, clever, and kind. He is a full-on Renaissance man, with knowledge about everything from cookery to car mechanics to quantum physics. It’s easy to see why people are drawn to this eccentric hero; and whilst the average viewer will never be as smart as the Doctor, there is no reason why we can’t draw inspiration from the Timelord.

This is a list of some of the skills and knowledge the Doctor has used on the show that you can try at home. The items on the list are either creative, practical, or productive - and, might we add, safe. Sorry, no saving worlds or Venusian aikido! These are just fun suggestions. We understand that not everyone will be able to, or want to do, the stuff on this list – but that doesn’t mean you’re not still brilliant, as the Doctor would say!

Anyway, here is our list of ten ways you can be more like the Doctor – and hopefully, try something new, fun, and enriching too!

10. Learn To Speed Read

This is a cool ability the Doctor has, as shown in the episodes City of Death and Rose, where he zips through entire paperbacks in mere seconds.

Now, while it’s unlikely that any of us can learn to read that fast, you can increase your own average reading speed. There are lots of videos and books about speed reading available that can teach you how to read faster, so it should be pretty simple to give it a try. The main benefit of this skill is that you can read more in less time, which might be useful if you decide to explore some of the other topics on this list – or just want to read more Doctor Who books!

This can also be an advantage in the workplace, as it means you read documents at a faster pace, or quickly acquire more knowledge on a subject. It is suggested that speed reading can also help with comprehension and concentration. It certainly could be a useful tool, though obviously depending on what you’re reading, you might want to take it slower and savour the book.
