Doctor Who: 10 WEIRDEST Things That The Sonic Screwdriver Can Do

3. Sky Fishing

Featured in: A Christmas Carol (2010)

2010 Christmas special A Christmas Carol was Doctoresque re-imagining of Charles Dickens' classic tale, in which the Doctor must teach miserly Kazran Sardick a lesson - through time travel, naturally - in order to save his companions.

One of the many features of this story were the sky fish, marine life that fly around among strange, electrified clouds.

The Doctor soon learns that his sonic screwdriver can be used as a lure for the sky fish, and sets up a fairly primitive lure in order to get a closer look.

The Doctor underestimated just how much the sky fish would love the sonic though. More than attracting just the one, it attracted a flying shark, which bit the screwdriver clean in half. Whoops.

While we never had Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor pegged as a fisherman, seeing him use the sonic to attract fish was funny, entertaining, and more than a little surreal.
