Doctor Who: 11 Cool Details We Just Learned About Vincent And The Doctor
1. The Personal Reason Why Curtis Wrote The Episode
In the past, Curtis has mentioned a few different reasons why he wanted to write this episode, including the fact that Vincent's suicide was something that not even the Doctor could prevent, a concept that greatly intrigued him.
And now, in a string of heartfelt tweets, he's opened up about another reason that drew him to this story: his love for his sister, Bindy.
Curtis tweeted that a "key" reason he wrote Vincent and the Doctor was because of Bindy, who was hit by depression and took her own life a few years before the episode aired. He then added that the big scene near the end - where the Doctor brings Vincent to the future and shows him the positive impact of his paintings - was him acknowledging how "glorious" Bindy had been in his life.
There really isn't anything to add here, other than encouraging you to read all of Curtis' tweets about Bindy (we couldn't cram them all into the above image). While there are sad moments in life - especially at this tough time - there are always bright spots to be found too, so stay safe, look after yourself... and keep watching Doctor Who!
