The song playing at the end of the episode is Chances by Athlete, a great musical accompaniment that matched the emotion of the scene very well.

But it wasn't just the overall feel of the song that Curtis liked - it was the lyrics, too.

In a tweet, the writer singled out the opening lines "take all your chances while you can/never know when they'll pass you by" and though he didn't elaborate on why these lyrics are important, it's pretty clear how they relate to the overall plot of the episode.

"Take all your chances while you can" - the line means that you should seize life, and make the most of the time you're given. Vincent van Gogh didn't live for very long, but he definitely left one hell of an impact in the handful of decades that he roamed our planet, and that's something positive we can all take away from his tragic story.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
