Doctor Who: 11 Nostalgic Theme Tunes Of The New Generation

8. Rose's Theme

http://youtu.be/bPWDUMzJ1i4 In a way, Series 1 and 2 recount a love story (jazzed up with some intermittent gas-masked zombies, a werewolf, and possibly the Devil himself) that endured even across the boundaries between universes. Rose Tyler deserves a special place in the Doctor's heart(s), for she rescued him from the abysmal despair that followed the Time War. Almost every Whovian becomes emotional when reminiscing about the Tenth Doctor and Rose's on screen charisma and their playful fondness of each other that was interwoven throughout Series 2, while most become darn right hysterical when remembering their final farewell (well, second to last farewell) on the bleak shores of Bad Wolf Bay. But what about the Ninth Doctor? This Doctor was raw and forlorn when he first entered Rose's life but Rose revitalised the Doctor's zeal for adventure, his kind disposition, and gave him a reason to live despite the stigmas that shadowed his past. She resurfaced the best qualities of the Doctor and, in doing so, embodied the quintessence of love - bringing out the best in each other. The progression of the music parallels their relationship. Timorous at first, then an admiration of each other that gradually builds along their many fateful journeys, and at the climax, when the strings explode into a tempestuous note, acknowledgment of their mutual compassion and dependency on one another, a truth that is written all across the cosmos with the immortal words 'Bad Wolf'. The Doctor and Rose's devotion to one another exceeded even the vastness of all of time and space. Whenever this heart wrenching ballad swells, it illumines the simplicity and gravitas of their love story all over again.

Anna is an aspiring writer who has an incurable obsession with Doctor Who. When she is not writing about Doctor Who, she's watching favorite episodes and contemplating what to write next. When she's writing about Doctor Who, she anticipates her reward: watching yet another Doctor Who episode. She also manages to read science fiction (especially Ray Bradbury), recite lines from Shakespeare's Macbeth, and make terrible puns in her free time (she likes to imagine she has great puntential, though)
