Doctor Who: 11 Utterly Bizarre Toys & Merch You Probably Missed

2. The Doctor Who Sound Effects Album

Yes, this is an LP featuring sound effects from Doctor Who. That is it. Not even the theme tune is on this album. But what€™s more surprising is that there were several follow up albums with more sound effects. The album features some iconic sound effects as €˜The Central Control Room In The Exillon City€™, `The Kraal Disorientation Chamber€™ and my personal favourite is €˜Atomic Reactor Runs Wild€™ which really gets the heart pumping. Also €˜Inside Dr Who€™s Mind€™ is essential subliminal listening for bored students with copious amounts of cheese. I imagine in the Seventies when this was originally released, listeners were using something a bit stronger than cheese and probably went on to write for the current series of Doctor Who, or children€™s television. One of the sound effects on this album is actually the humming from the Dalek control room, which is actually pretty cool and I regret playing it to my Dad as he has set as his ringtone for some reason. Despite this, I can€™t think why anyone would get the urge to listen to this at all, never mind more than once. Also how on earth would you justify having this if someone pulled it out of your record collection at a party? You€™d have just as tricky a job explaining away the next item.
