Doctor Who: 11 Utterly Bizarre Toys & Merch You Probably Missed

3. Inflatable Ride In Daleks

dalekride

These are pretty much a modern equivalent of the Dalek playsuit, and when these were announced, I couldn€™t believe what I was seeing. There have been several inflatable Dalek releases over the years and due to the nature of the extremities, they have they awful tendency of looking quite sad and depressed because their eye stalks especially had a tendency to droop rather pathetically. Another release from the past was the seldom seen, coin-operated ride-in Dalek, like those rocking €˜Postman Pat€™ vans that are seen at most British Supermarkets. The Inflatable Ride In Daleks are as you can imagine a hybrid of the two and despite the fact that on paper I can€™t think of a child that wouldn€™t want one, I still think they look utterly ridiculous. For one thing, they€™ve used the Tellytubbie Daleks, which aren€™t entirely threatening at the best of times, but turn this into an almost life size balloon and it looks like an auditionee for the Macy€™s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I can also see a lot of disappointment for children of a certain size, which the Dalek may have difficulty carrying and good luck to any child lives in a house that is entirely carpeted because your Dalek will be marooned. Also it will only be a matter of time until the poor thing gets a puncture and collapses around the occupant in a less than dignified manner.
