11. Journey Blue

Christina De Souza wasn't the only character to ask to accompany the Doctor on his travels. Journey Blue, played by Zawe Ashton in Series 8's Into the Dalek, asked the Time Lord whether she could travel with him or not after the they had survived miniturisation and a dangerous descent into the casing of a Dalek. She could have been quite interesting on the TARDIS team - she was courageous, as evinced by her willingness to go into a Dalek, and had good chemistry with Clara, too. However, her request to journey (no pun intended) around the universe came out of the blue (also no pun intended) for some. She didn't really seem to connect with Twelve, often complaining or arguing with him instead, even if there was a hint of respect by the end of it. He turned her down on the grounds that she was a soldier, starting off a season long mini-character arc, and perhaps suggesting that Journey's chances of becoming a companion were always small.
