The one thing that makes or breaks a new Doctor is his confidence level. Does he have that Time Lord swagger, that low-level pomposity that comes with the unshakable knowledge that he is the most intelligent person in the room? The Twelfth Doctor possesses said confidence in spades. Even in his post-regeneration confusion, he was a commanding, imposing presence; he attempted to assume control of the situation even though his wits were too muddled to really understand what was happening. This was such a Doctorish action that it was impossible not to accept the new incarnation as still being the same man. In large part, the Doctor has been defined by his confidence and the way he owns any room he enters. The fact that he was still commanding everyone's attention even when he was unsure of his own identity promised us a Doctor who, when he did come into his own, would be more forceful than usual. So far the Twelfth Doctor has demonstrated a more forceful side, and it will be interesting to see how this part of his character grows as the series progresses.
