Doctor Who: 12 Reasons To Love The Twelfth Doctor

3. His Humility

The Doctor may have dollops of confidence, but he also has a certain amount of humility about him, too. His admission to Clara of, "I've lived for over 2,000 years, and I've made many mistakes" shows that this Doctor is more aware of the dark things he's done over the course of his life (perhaps a side effect of being a darker Doctor?). No, the Doctor is not proud of everything he's done; in fact, it forces him to question whether or not he is a good man. It might seem odd to have confidence and humility exist side-by-side in this manner, but it's actually good for the Doctor to see two sides of the coin in this case. His humility can temper his confidence and keep him from becoming too brash while at the same time reminding him can he has the potential to be a good man. We don't often get to see the humble side of the Doctor, so to have Twelve openly admit his faults and doubts like this is something unique. This will likely serve as an important plot point as the series progresses.
