Doctor Who: 12 Things You Need To Know About Series 9

11. It Will Air In The Autumn

Clara Oswald blew into this world on a leaf and the new series will blow into it on one, too. Metaphorically speaking, of course. The Twelfth Doctor's second string of adventures will be coming to a small screen near you (and hopefully a big one, if this year's premiere also gets a cinema outing, and there's no reason why it shouldn't...) in the autumn which means that its legion of fans have certainly got a lot of time to kill. Where's the TARDIS when you need it!? By this point Whovians are more than used to waiting, though. The Time Lord always seems to be vanishing off our screens again before his latest televisual escapades have even truly begun so the concept of having to while away the dark months until his next long overdue comeback is nothing new. Fortunately, there is plenty to be getting on with in the meantime. Last year's Christmas Special get its home release on DVD and Blu-ray this week so there's always that, and that's not to mention the seemingly never ending supply of tie-in books, comics and audio adventures which will all help to keep your withdrawal symptoms at bay. Now is also as good a time as any to start that almighty Classic Series marathon you're always talking about but have secretly been too intimidated to attempt. What have you got to lose? Apart from hours of sleep and time you could be otherwise investing into maintaing some sort of social life. Well, just the hours of sleep, then. But just when will Series 9 actually begin? The truth is, it's far too early to say at this point, given that the BBC traditionally don't finalise their schedules until about 10 days before transmission. If it's anything like last year, though (and there has been nothing to suggest that it won't be), around the end of August/early September 2015 is currently our best bet. At least you can sleep easy knowing that there will definitely be new Doctor Who to enjoy at some point this year. That's something, right?
