2. Who Is The Magician's Apprentice?

Nobody knows. The title of the Series 9 premiere was confirmed as The Magician's Apprentice at the end of Last Christmas and, now that's Clara aboard the TARDIS once more, the obvious candidate is her... right? When you think about it, though, she's been travelling with the Doctor for a while now and she's also the only companion to have met all of his incarnations, as well as the one who has gained the most insight into Gallifrey, the Time War and, most recently, his childhood. As such, if anyone is the Time Lord's apprentice it definitely isn't her, and that's assuming that the 'magician' in the new title is referring to the Doctor at all. Which, let's face it, it probably is. So who else could be in the running, then? Shona McCullough is the next in line, for sure - not only was she inquisitive enough to be taking notes in the episode but she also directly referred to the Doctor as a magician, too. Could they have made it any more obvious? Unless it's all a red herring, of course, in which case a lot of fans have got the wrong end of a very dreamy-weamy stick. It's nice to speculate though, isn't it?
