Doctor Who: 13 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Time Of Angels Commentary

2. Matt Smith Properly Bit Karen Gillan On The Hand

Late in the episode, the Angels have messed with Amy's head to such an extent that she actually believes her hand has turned to stone.

But as we all know, this is just a perception trick, and the Doctor snaps her out of it by biting her hand, proving that it's still normal flesh.

If you stop and think about the making of this scene, you would probably assume that Matt Smith only faked a bite, rather than doing one for real. Well, as it turns out... you'd be wrong. According to Gillan, Smith "completely and utterly" bit her hand during one particular take. Nom nom.

The funny thing here is that if you pay attention to the sound effects during this moment, you can hear Amy let out a short scream of pain - and that is 100% genuine.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
