Doctor Who: 13 Doctor/Monster Match-Ups Fans Would Love To See

2. The Eleventh Doctor vs. The Meddling Monk

THE DOCTOR: The Eleventh Doctor - the madman in a box that gads around space and time, saving galaxies and having oh so much fun with his human companions. A Doctor with eccentric dress-sense and disputable ideas of what is 'cool'. A Doctor that has crossed his own time streams, created paradoxes and alternate universes, breaking the laws of time and affecting the lives of his companions by time and TARDIS alike. By all accounts, he is pretty irresponsible, and yet, as the Last of the Time Lords, there was no one to pull him up on these contraventions. But there was someone else who was just as irresponsible. THE ENEMY: Introduced during the First Doctor's tenure, the Monk is another renegade Time Lord who travels to famous points in history, plunders its treasures, and then sells them on for a profit. His greed and amorality came to bear during the Eighth Doctor's era, where, by manipulating time, he engineered a second Dalek invasion of Earth, created a virus that wiped out a chunk of humanity, and got his companion killed just to get his hands on Earth's riches. THE BATTLE: The Monk€™s own irresponsibility and failure to consider the consequences of his actions to the Web of Time and to life itself led to death and destruction - a story similar to the Eleventh Doctor. Like the Meddling Monk, the Doctor has to realise that his actions and inactions have consequences, and to face the Monk and realise that his irresponsibility mirrors his own must be confronting indeed. The battle will not be of wits and strength, but of realisation and remembrance to 'The Man Who Forgets'. ALTERNATIVE ENEMY: Every other Doctor before him, for asking them to do stuff while they're in the middle of something.
