Doctor Who: 14 Cool Details Steven Moffat Just Revealed About The Day Of The Doctor
1. Matt Smith And Tom Baker Improvised Part Of Their Conversation
The Day Of The Doctor is stuffed with incredible moments that Doctor Who fans will remember for the rest of their lives: thirteen Doctors uniting to save the day, Ten and Eleven's first encounter, and ATTACK EYEBROWS - to name but a few.
But quite possibly the best bit arrived towards the end of the episode, when the great Tom Baker popped up for a brief cameo as the curator of the art gallery.
Here, Baker and Smith have a conversation about the true title of the Gallifrey painting, with the curator hinting that Eleven should head out in search of his newly-saved home planet. In the middle of this conversation, there's also a completely random exchange where the curator says "congratulations" and Eleven replies "thank you very much."
It's very kooky, very weird, and very, well, Doctor Who, and as tweeted by Moffat, it was improvised by the two actors.
It doesn't make much sense, sure, but it's a clear indicator that Smith and Baker were very excited to be part of such a special occasion, and what the hell, seeing them both having fun made us smile along with them, so let them improvise all they want!
