Doctor Who: 14 Most Paused Moments Of The Last Decade

7. Guess Who's Back, Back Again... (Army Of Ghosts)

Nobody can say quite for sure what it is about the dreaded Daleks. As formidable and iconic - and that's not to mention ruthlessly persistent - as they can be, you can't pretend that their accompanying fear factor hasn't been somewhat diminished by their seemingly endless multitude of returns in recent years. There was a time, though, when seeing these perpetual pepperpots pop back up in the Doctor's life was genuinely mortifying, and this memorable moment from 2006 can definitely vouch for that. Because things were already bad enough for the residents of planet Earth at this point. An army of Cybermen had been guising as the ghosts of loved ones and their heart stomping arrival into our universe would've been enough to make Series 2's finale one of the most action packed in Doctor Who history. But then that Void Ship opened and out came the Cult of Skaro and things went from bad to worse before you could say 'Raxacoricofallapatorius'. Rose and Mickey were no doubt wishing they had a 'pause' moment of their very own in those final climactic moments of Army of Ghosts, just so they could get their heads around the ensuing drama. Daleks and Cyberman?! It's the stuff that fanboy dreams are made of but for the actual characters, it was a living nightmare. Don't keep it paused for too long, now, because you wouldn't want to miss what happens next!
