Doctor Who: 15 Greatest NuWho Deaths So Far

14. Solomon The Trader (Dinosaurs On A Spaceship)

Doctor Who Osgood

It's always cathartic when a particularly nasty villain gets their comeuppance and within Doctor Who they don't get much nastier than Solomon the Trader, as played by David Bradley in Series 7's Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

Solomon was a ruthless trader, always looking to make a profit and viewing people as commodities. He committed a number of nefarious acts; he killed an entire crew of Silurians in order to gain control of their cargo of dinosaurs, he ordered the killing of a dinosaur in front of the Doctor, and he tried to kidnap Queen Nefertiti in order to sell her. After doing all of this, his eventual fate of getting sucked into the depths of space at the hands of the Doctor feels fitting...

But there's another layer here. Solomon's death marked a darker moment for the Eleventh Doctor. It wasn't just the death of a despicable character, Eleven's willingness to kill so coldly having travelled alone for a long time came as a shock to fans and became a small - but key - part of the character's arc for Series 7. As a result of this combination, this manages to be one of the best deaths within the New Series.
